San Francisco Welcomes the 2024 ACOG Annual Clinical & Scientific Meeting

Nearly 5,000 obstetrician-gynecologists will gather at the Moscone Center from May 17 to 19

San Francisco (May 16, 2024) – This weekend, San Francisco will host the 2024 Annual Clinical & Scientific Meeting of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), the largest annual gathering of clinicians and trainees dedicated to obstetrics and gynecology. Taking place May 17-19, the conference will draw nearly 5,000 obstetrician-gynecologists to the Moscone Center for a weekend of content developed to support and advance attendees’ skills as clinicians and provide opportunities for personal and professional engagement and networking.

“Every year, thousands of obstetrician-gynecologists come together at ACOG’s Annual Clinical & Scientific Meeting to support and advance their clinical skills and knowledge in their efforts to best serve their patients. They also gather  to find strength, solidarity and to reconnect in our community,” said AnnaMarie Connolly, MD, FACOG, Chief of Education and Academic Affairs at ACOG. “The practice of obstetrics and gynecology is more complex now than ever, and it is through coming together that so many of our members are able to be revitalized and empowered to continue to provide compassionate, respectful care to patients in the face of ongoing challenges.”

San Francisco, and California more broadly, share ACOG’s values of access to comprehensive health care. In addition to skill development and professional networking, ACOG will host ancillary programming to address some of the biggest challenges the medical specialty faces. ACOG’s political action committee, Ob-GynPAC—the only federal PAC dedicated exclusively to electing representatives who support the specialty of obstetrics and gynecology—will host a fundraiser party at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. The conference has also partnered with Vitalant to host a Donate for Mothers blood drive at the Moscone Center.

According to estimates from the San Francisco Travel Association, the conference is expected to generate $11.2 million in economic impact, which includes the spending by attendees, event planners, exhibitors, B2B supply chain purchases, and wages paid to workers in the local economy.

Anu Bhambri, Owner of ROOH and Alora said, "We are very excited to welcome the ACOG annual conference this week. All high profile conferences like this one, especially when they are taking place at the Moscone Center, greatly benefit both our nearby restaurants—ROOH in SoMa and Alora on the Embarcadero waterfront. We love welcoming conference attendees both for dining and private events. Conferences like ACOG also provide us a chance to showcase how vibrant the city's dining scene is. Of course, the end goal is to provide memorable and delicious experiences that give every attendee more reasons to return again and again."

“This gathering represents a significant opportunity for professionals in the field to collaborate, share knowledge, and drive advancements in women's health. We are extremely honored here at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis to be the headquarter hotel for the 2024 ACOG Annual Clinical & Scientific Meeting,” said John Anderson, General Manager, San Francisco Marriott Marquis. “As leaders in obstetrics and gynecology gather under our roof and around the amazing City of San Francisco, we are committed to providing wonderful hospitality and a venue where ideas flourish, connections deepen, and progress thrives. This event not only showcases our commitment to healthcare excellence but also underscores our dedication to supporting initiatives that positively impact women's lives globally.”
